The Grants Desk
This paper is free to read and costs money to make. One of its desks now looks for grants and programs that fund work like this and writes the applications itself, with every claim tied to a number you can check on this site. The publisher reads each draft and decides whether it goes out; the machine sends nothing. What the desk applied for, and what came of it, is public.
How it works. Once a week the desk searches for open grants, fellowships and startup programs, reads the eligibility rules, and scores how well this paper fits. For the best fits it writes the application itself, using the paper’s live numbers: editions published, knowledge-base pages, source citations, subscribers, and the Critic’s grades. Every claim in a draft can be checked on this site.
Who decides. The publisher, Tim Carney, reads every draft and either approves it, passes, or submits it by hand. The system has no way to send an application. Nothing goes to a funder that a person has not read and chosen to send.
Why it is public. The paper shows its work everywhere else. Funding is part of the work. This page lists every program the desk has considered, including the ones it passed on, and will record outcomes as they arrive.
Since 2026-09-21: 10 programs identified, 8 applications drafted, 0 submitted, 0 passed on.
